⚙️ Accessibility Statement

Sussex Wasps Disabled Archery Club is committed to ensuring our website and facilities are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. We have implemented various adjustments to enhance accessibility, such as using the Accessibility Wizard to identify and fix potential issues, setting clear heading structures on all pages, providing alternative text for images, and ensuring accessible videos, audio, and files. If you encounter any accessibility issues or have suggestions for improvement, please feel free to contact our accessibility coordinator, Phil Reay, at archerphil@sky.com.

1. Compliance with UK Accessibility Standards

  • We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA standards—for perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust content—as recommended by the UK Public Sector Accessibility Regulations and the Equality Act 2010.

  • While we're a charity (potentially exempt from public-sector regulation), we consider this compliance essential to ensuring full inclusivity and offering “reasonable adjustments” .

2. Accessibility Features on This Website

  • Text and visuals: All images include alt‑text. Contrast and font sizes meet readability criteria.

  • Keyboard navigation: You can access all controls without a mouse—menus, registers, forms, and skip‑links all fully operable.

  • Forms and instructions: Clear labels, inline hints, and error identification assist users with cognitive or sensory needs.

  • Responsive design: The site adapts to screen sizes, zoom levels, and assistive technologies like screen readers.

  • Continuous testing: We use automated tools and regular manual reviews to identify and fix any accessibility issues.

3. Physical Accessibility at The Club

We follow best practices to ensure our activities are inclusive:

  • Venue - Ramped entrance, accessible parking, flat surfaces for wheelchair access

  • Range - 1.25 m wide shooting lanes, space for stools or wheelchairs

  • Facilities - Accessible toilets and water stations at suitable heights

  • Equipment - Adjustable bow racks, seating options, and assistance for gear setup

  • Coaching - Trained volunteers who adapt guidance based on individual needs

4. Reasonable Adjustments

We welcome all members to request reasonable adjustments, such as:

  • Larger print or audio formats for documents.

  • Reserved accessible parking and reserved spaces at events.

  • Modified coaching techniques or equipment as needed.

5. Known Issues & Workarounds

  • Search field compatibility
The current search field functions adequately today. However, it should be enhanced in future iterations to align with the latest web standards—especially WCAG 2.2 input guidelines covering aspects like Target Size and Dragging Movements (2.5.8 and 2.5.7)

  • Blog – All Posts H1 issue
The H1 element on the Blog “All Posts” page fails to render due to an unidentified Wix plugin error. We’ll escalated this to Wix support for diagnosis and resolution.

  • Event Details & Registration – Google Maps embed
The embedded Google Maps in the event details page lacks sufficient contrast, and Wix doesn't currently allow color adjustments for this component. Since this affects compliance with WCAG 1.4.11 (non‑text UI contrast) , we’ll escalated this issue to Wix support for resolution.
